Good advertising – on websites and TV, billboards and buses, magazines and blogs – feels inspired, effortless and seamless, but also represents the hard work of a team of creative individuals: designers, artists, copywriters, typographers, art directors and others. If you envision yourself as part of that team, developing and designing advertising campaigns, Advertising Design at the University of the Arts is the program for you.
Launching in the fall of 2014, the program will equip you with the necessary conceptual, communication, and traditional and digital design skills you need to thrive in the ever-evolving advertising industry. Created for students who want to work primarily as art directors, the curriculum of the program draws from an array of media, including visual art, film, sound, text and interactivity, developing your skill at integrating these elements into successful advertising campaigns.
The Advertising Design program is built with your life after UArts in mind, offering:
- A robust internship program
- Applied Advertising courses in which students work on real campaigns for real clients
- Visits to top advertising agencies to observe professionals in action
- On-campus lectures and workshops with industry professionals
- Faculty members who are professionals in the advertising industry
Job and internship opportunities abound in Philadelphia, home to dozens of world-class advertising and marketing agencies, many within blocks of UArts' Center City campus, and major media centers like New York, Washington, D.C., and Boston are easily accessible.
