Summer Institute : ESL + Art/Music : Curriculum
In the mornings you will hone your language skills and in the afternoons you will delve into your studio and musical interests with your American peers in professional studios taught by our renowned University faculty. Finally, you will gain invaluable knowledge and experience with American culture by living with American students in Philadelphia, one of America’s largest and most culturally vibrant cities.
As part of the English learning curriculum, you will explore the city of Philadelphia and visit many important cultural sites and museums, as well as experience exciting performances. These explorations will be documented in creative ways in artist journals and be used as a part of the English language curriculum. You will also be introduced to numerous guest speakers, attend social and academic events, and enjoy weekly trips to museums, galleries and performances. Optional trips to beaches, parks and New York City are also available.
You will have an opportunity to exhibit your artwork in a public exhibition or perform on the main stage of a professional recital hall at the conclusion of the program.
The Take Away
Leave the program with improved English language skills, a portfolio or audition piece, a journal of your experience, and three college credits. But more than that, you will have made friends from around the globe, improved your self-confidence and prepared yourself to determine what University experience might be right for you in the future.
