Dean's Welcome Message

Welcome to the College of Performing Arts!

Now is an excellent time for you to explore CPA at the University of the Arts – the School of Dance, School of Music and the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts are all poised to step with you into the 21st century of performing arts.

Under the leadership of President Buffington and the guidance of our incredible faculty of arts professionals, you will be enabled and prepared for the best and the brightest future possible as a performing artist. Here you can learn, meet, bond, network and develop personal and professional relationships for life.

Your experiences in our eight performance facilities – from a 60-seat cabaret to a classic 1800-seat proscenium – can support any creative venture you might conceive.

Along with the offerings in the College of Performing Arts, you will have opportunities to deepen and expand your art and your world through the study of the humanities and sciences in the Division of Liberal Arts. Or, in our College of Art, Media & Design, you can bring the world of visual arts into your grasp through electives, lectures, exhibits and direct collaborations.

The University of the Arts' Center City campus also gives you a thriving arts-centric city to explore and enjoy during your UArts life. I encourage you to take advantage of all that UArts, CPA and Philadelphia have to offer – oh, and don't overlook the fabulous food all around us too!

All we ask those who join our University is that you act, dance, sing, play, read, write, draw, sculpt, film, photograph, edit, paint…that you feed your creative self!
