Wayfinder: Forging Identity

President's Office

Curated by recent graduate Adam Miller '13 (Photography), "Wayfinder: Forging Identity" is an exploration of transmasculine identity through the work of artists whose themes focus on both the physical and psychological aspects of female-to-male (FtM) gender transition. In a variety of paper-based media – including printmaking, photography, ink drawing and sculpture – the artists in this exhibition capture the sometimes subtle nuances of transformation at the crossroads of gender and identity. Miller, who is on his own journey of FtM transition, chose work that resonates with his own experience of the realities and aspirations inherent in the process of gender transition. This exhibition is the culmination of an Independent Study undertaken in his senior year.
