School of Art Faculty Exhibition: Part Two
Feb 17—Mar 7 2014
Hamilton/Arronson Galleries, Solmssen Court & President’s Office Gallery
The School of Art (SoA) in the College of Art, Media & Design presents its inaugural “Faculty Exhibition” in two parts, featuring faculty from the Craft & Material Studies, Interdisciplinary Fine Arts and Photography programs.
The exhibits celebrate the School’s impressive range of faculty talent, highlighting the broad spectrum of media and formats utilized in contemporary creative practice. Working in fine arts and applied fields, the diverse SoA faculty includes established masters in their respective disciplines, nationally and internationally recognized, as well as young and emerging artists working solo or in trans-disciplinary colabs and collectives. Continuing a long tradition of excellence at the University of the Arts, this exhibition reveals a community of artists committed to innovation and exploration, conceptual rigor and formal and technical acuity.
We are especially pleased to include the works of Professor Emerita Alida Fish and retiring professors Sharon Church, Gerald Nichols and Tom Porett. We are also honored to feature the works of Professor Emerita Lizbeth Stewart Gruskin (1948 – 2013) in a special section of the exhibition. Liz taught in the Crafts department from 1981 until her retirement in 2012.
