The University community is invited to a screening of the 2011 Summer Animation Workshop with the Ecole Europeene Superieure de l'Image of Poiters and Angouleme, France. The completed sequence that UArts and EESI students worked on together titled "Podorange" and the documentary of the workshop itself will both be shown.

The open-to-the-public screening will take place on Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. in Connelly Auditorium on the 8th floor of Terra Hall (211 South Broad Street). Students interested in participating in future workshops are encouraged to attend.

In addition to Instructor Claire Fouquet, the French team also included Vincent Aubry, Audrey Hess, Garance Le Gall, Pauline Roland and Jeremy Secco. The UArts team, headed by Assistant Professor of Animation Christopher Magee and utilizing the talents of Kevin Kypers and Dan Murano, also included Christopher Airgood, Daniel Alfaro, Matthew Barnes, Aleson Ho, Anthony Insetta, Adam Murray, Christine Oliver, Janelle Smith and Samuel Troyer.

This workshop was started in 2005 and the 2011 version represents the first time that French students have come to Philadelphia; in past years, UArts students traveled to France to participate in the workshop and to attend the Annecy Animation Festival, the world's premier animation event. The documentary provides a snapshot of the encounter between our two cultures as well as insight into the workshop process.
