The November issue of Travel + Leisure magazine, which featured its annual “America’s Favorite Cities” poll, ranked Philadelphia No. 1 for overall culture – that’s higher than New York, Los Angeles or Washington, D.C.

The impact of the city’s theaters, museums, art galleries, dance companies and musical ensembles outranked those of every other city in the country.

Visitors to Philly also ranked it No. 1 on the historical sites/monuments list and the sports-crazed list (that was kind of a given); No. 2 for classical music (go Philadelphia Orchestra!), street food and hamburgers; No. 3 for overall food/drink/restaurants; No. 4 for pizza; and No. 5 for theaters/performance art, museums/galleries and overall shopping.
