UArts Professor Reviews Russian Outsider Artist in 'Art in America'
Liberal Arts Professor Patricia Stewart explores the work of Russian "outsider artist" Nikolai Lyovochkin in the January 13, 2012, issue of Art in America magazine.
Lyovochkin's work – a series of elaborate and mysterious architectural models discovered in the Moscow metro engine driver's apartment after his death in 2007 – was exhibited at the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow.
Lyovochikin, writes Stewart, "worked most of his life as an engine driver for the Moscow metro. He made his work not so much in secret as in the purifying absence of any attention whatsoever."
