The Arthur Ross Gallery of the University of Pennsylvania presents the work of Mi-Kyoung Lee, associate professor of Crafts and head of Fibers at the University of the Arts, in a new exhibition, "In Material: Fiber 2012."

On display through March 25, "In Material" is offered in conjunction with FiberPhiladelphia 2012 – an international biennial and regional festival for innovative fiber/textile art – and brings together four contemporary artists who have played a significant role in the sculptural and conceptual use of fiber and who bring imagination and innovation to the art form.

On Saturday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m., Lee will give a gallery talk at the Arthur Ross Gallery along with artist Lucy Arai to celebrate FiberPhiladelphia's opening weekend.

Lee plays with volume without mass; color as a dance movement rather than a solid form. Her most recent project is a commission to design sets and costumes for "The Buffalo Soldiers," a new opera premiering in Italy this coming summer. Lee's woven backdrops have been featured in theater productions around the globe.
