April 4, 2012

185 students from the School of Music and the School of Dance will present a collaborative performance of Carl Orff's dramatic "Carmina Burana" at the Merriam Theater (250 South Broad Street, Philadelphia).

Performances are April 13 at 7 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $10 (general admission) and $8 (students with ID and seniors); free to the UArts community.

Under the direction of Associate Music Professor Jeffrey Kern, a 100-voice chorus and 33 orchestra players from the School of Music will perform with 48 freshman dancers to bring to life the epic song cycle that is one of the most popular compositions in contemporary 20th century music.

Choreographed by master lecturers Katie Swords and Adrianne Westwood, the performance will also feature solos by Voice faculty Anne Sciolla, Reggie Pindell and Paul Adkins.

The promotional poster for the event (above) was designed and produced by students from the College of Art, Media & Design.
