PIFA 2013's 'A Cappella Night' Features UArts Vocal Ensembles

VOX and OcTonics perform at third annual Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts

VOX and OcTonics, two a cappella groups from the University's School of Music, will be performing on the Kimmel Center's TD Bank Plaza Stage at "A Cappella Night," an event featured every Monday evening in April during the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) taking place through April 27.

Members of VOX include Austin Billings '15 (Composition), Jared Babuschak '14 (Vocal Performance), Allegra DelRossi '14 (Vocal Performance), Taylor Fisher '13 (Vocal Performance), Kal Heavey '16 (Vocal Performance), Heeya Kim '16 (Vocal Performance), Kat Montanye '13 (Vocal Performance), Alita Moses '15 (Vocal Performance), Sam Mulligan '14 (Vocal Performance), Monte Reid '16 (Vocal Performance), Brittany Robey '16 (Vocal Performance), Mickey VanTaggi '14 (Vocal Performance) and Tom Wory '14 (Vocal Performance), who will be performing on Monday, April 15.

OcTonics, who will perform on Monday, April 22, includes Jared Babuschak '14 (Vocal Performance), Kate Coyne '15 (Vocal Performance), Taylor Fisher '13 (Vocal Performance), Calli Graver '14 (Vocal Performance), Andrew Lawson '14 (Vocal Performance), Monte Reid '16 (Vocal Performance), Brittany Robey '16 (Vocal Performance) and Dominic Tursi '15 (Vocal Performance).

This event also features other university a cappella groups from the Philadelphia area. Performances begin at 6 p.m. and are free to the public.

The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts is a month-long, city-wide arts festival produced by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts that celebrates innovation, collaboration and creativity with over 50 arts and cultural organizations presenting multidisciplinary artistic interpretations of new works, classical performances and exhibits. The 2013 thematic focus, "If You Had a Time Machine…," takes audiences on a journey through time to experience the convergence of art, culture and history in artistic interpretations of great defining moments that continue to influence society today.
