24-Hour Access and Thanksgiving Holiday Hours
End-of-semester 24-hour access to academic facilities will continue through the last day of the semester on Friday, December 20. For the Thanksgiving Holiday, the University is open, but there are no classes on Wednesday, November 27. All non-residential facilities will close fully at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. All non-residential facilities will re-open at 8 a.m. on Friday, November 29 and 24-hour access will resume at that time. Building schedule >>

Submit Work to 'Underground Pool' by Dec. 1
UArts' student literary magazine, Underground Pool, is seeking submissions for its Spring 2014 issue. Original poems, short stories and artwork are accepted from current undergraduate students and should be sent to undergroundpool@uarts.edu. The deadline for submissions is December 1. Holiday Food Drive
Sponsored by Staff Council. Collection boxes are located in the lobbies of Hamilton, Anderson, Gershman, Merriam and Terra halls. Staff, faculty and students are encouraged to donate non-perishable food to support the efforts of Philabundance. Items should be recently purchased, unopened and in good condition. Sign Up for eAccounts
A reminder to users of FreedomPay: the service will be discontinued at the end of the current semester and using your UArts ID through eAccounts and UArts$ will become the sole method of automatic payment for campus services such as iLabs, Dining Services, the School Store, individual crafts and arts shops on campus, and even vending machines (cash and credit cards will also continue to be accepted). Once you use a credit card to deposit cash to your eAccount, you can then use your student ID as your payment method everywhere eAccounts is accepted on campus. We strongly recommend a credit rather than a debit card for greater online security.

It's easy to sign up – just log in to the UArts Portal, click “eAccounts” in the left menu, then follow the instructions.

UArts Students Are Top Winners in Annual PMA Collab Design Competition
Justin Martin ’15 (Industrial Design) took home first place and Kevin Bogan ’14 (Craft & Material Studies: Wood) was named the third-place winner in the 2013 Collab Student Design Competition held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition, work by fellow senior Wood major Marc DiGiaimo and Industrial Design juniors Casey McDonough, Ji Han Kim and Min Soub "Peter" Sim was selected to be included in a week-long student exhibition being held at the PMA. Museum Studies Alumni Launch Pop-Up Exhibit Project
A team of recent alumni from the MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning & Design program have launched Project Meanwhile, a theatrical, thought-provoking social experience that supplements a local exhibition in a pop-up location. Music Students Selected to Perform with Top Collegiate Jazz Orchestra
Instrumental Performance majors Kenny Mesmer '14 (Trumpet), Jake Manny '14 (Trumpet), Nick Lombardelli '15 (Trombone) and Sam Greenfield ’14 (Saxophone) have been selected for the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra (MACJO), recognized as the premier orchestra for the East Coast's finest college jazz musicians. Alternate musicians selected include Chris Welte ’14 (Saxophone), Evan Kilgore ’15 (Saxophone) and Frank Rein ’16 (Composition). Read more >>

Liberal Arts Professor Releases New Book
The Art of Play: Recess and the Practice of Invention by Liberal Arts Associate Professor Anna Beresin has just been released by Temple University Press. The book features interviews with UArts faculty in dance, music, theater, design, fine arts and film. Proceeds are being donated to Recess Access, a play and art advocacy program for public school children. Beresin will sign copies of her book at the Painted Bride Art Center (230 Vine Street, Philadelphia) on Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m.

Students in the School of Music's award-winning "Z" Big Band perform traditional and contemporary big band jazz.
