The University's much anticipated Art Unleashed exhibition and sale kicked off on Wednesday, April 9 with a gala Preview Party attended by art lovers and collectors from across the region and across the globe.
Among the attendees who packed Hamilton Hall were Alumni Spotlight Gallery artists Hratch Babikian BFA '83 (Jewelry) and fine artist Dotty Attie BFA '59 (Art Education), as well as other exhibiting artists, who were on hand to discuss their work.
Celebrating its fifth year, Art Unleashed features one-of-a-kind pieces by UArts students, faculty, alumni and staff in all media. Jewelry, drawings, photography, crafts, painting, ceramics, sculpture, furniture, illustration and more original work was on display April 9 - 15. All proceeds from the sale of artwork benefit student scholarships at the University of the Arts.
Highlights from the opening night event included performances by students from the School of Dance and Rumble, the School of Music's bucket-drum ensemble, who greeted guests as they arrived. A student jazz quartet kept the crowd entertained the entire evening from the Solmssen Court stage.
On Saturday, April 12, Art Unleashed welcomed neighborhood residents and businesses at Neighborhood Appreciation Day, which featured music and giveaways by the More FM "Street Crew," as well as a book sale and signing by alumni and faculty authors.
