Interested in the upcoming winter Delaware Valley Farm Share program? Though registration won't begin until late September/early October, the farmers are about to start planting vegetables for winter harvest. Please email RSmith@uarts.edu if you are interested in participating in this year's winter share. Submissions for 'Making It' Alumni Exhibit Now Being Accepted
The University of the Arts is pleased to invite submissions for "Making It: Alumni Works '04 - '14," a juried exhibition of works by recent alumni that will be on display October 8 – 31 in Hamilton Hall, with a reception scheduled for Friday, October 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. Submissions are open to all UArts alumni from the classes of 2004 through 2014, including undergraduate and graduate alumni. Only artwork created after graduation is eligible for submission. The deadline for submissions is August 15. Artists selected for the exhibition will be notified the week of September 15. School of Music Senior Wins Montreux Jazz Voice Competition
Rising School of Music senior Alita Moses '15 (Vocal Performance) was named the first-place winner in the 2014 Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, an international competition open to professional singers under the age of 35. Finals were held in July during the 48th Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Moses and eight other vocalists were selected for the semi-finals from among submissions from more than 40 countries. She took home the top prize after a final performance against two other singers. Alum's Top Philly Ad Agency Turns 50
Congratulations to Berny Brownstein BFA ’57 (Advertising Design), chairman and chief creative officer of the Brownstein Group, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, making it Philadelphia’s oldest independent ad agency. Brownstein and his son, Marc, who currently serves as the company’s CEO, were recently profiled in The Philadelphia Inquirer, highlighting the award-winning firm’s impressive 50-year history. CAMD Pop-Up Exhibit Featured on 'PhillyNow' Blog
The College of Art, Media & Design’s Pop-Up Exhibition was featured in Philadelphia Weekly’s “Philly Now” blog on July 18. The exhibit, which runs through August 15, features work by CAMD students, faculty and alumni displayed in the windows of the former Robinson Luggage storefront on the corner of Broad and Walnut Streets. Housekeeping: Adriane Little
"Housekeeping" consists of a series of shadow boxes, image and text. For this project, Adriane Little meticulously cut 17 copies of the novel Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson into individual words. The text from the book was then placed in the empty space of the shadow box and in front of the image. More info >>
