Though we were all hunkered down, UArts and UArtists continued to make news this summer, from a new partnership with Jefferson and a new dean of the Brind School of Theater Arts, to alumni fellowships and faculty winners.

University of the Arts and Thomas Jefferson University announced that they will be partnering on new course offerings for undergraduate students this fall. Read more

Kym Moore, an innovative and imaginative leader, theater-maker and scholar who continues to demonstrate the interconnected power of creative disciplines to impact and shape our reality, joined University of the Arts as dean of the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts. Learn more

Film Program Director Mike Attie’s short documentary, Abortion Helpline, This is Lisa, won the Grand Jury Prize for Short Films at the AFI DOCS Film Festival. Learn more. 

Two UArts alumni, Devon Harrison BFA ’19 (Animation and Glass) and Breyanna Maples BFA ’18 (Dance), received the first-ever Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists, which was launched this year by Mural Arts Philadelphia. Read more.
