Music - Instrumental Performance (BM)

Raphael is quickly becoming a mainstay of the guitar department. He plays a wide variety of music from Funk Blues and Rock to Straight Ahead and Latin Jazz. Raph plays in multiple groups and works on a range of projects.

After receiving a guitar in second grade, Raph fell in love with rock and roll. Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers became his primary obsession. For seven years, his teachers nurtured and helped his musical talent develop. In 2016, he was awarded the Isaak Anderson Scholarship, allowing him to continue his studies.

In 2016, he also attended the UArts Summer Pre-College Music Program. There, he found his calling for jazz. Raph counts Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, and Sonny Stitt among his current influences.

In 2017, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Skidmore Summer Jazz Institute.

When he isn’t at school, Raph plays gigs regularly throughout the Tri-state Area.
