Dr. R. Alan Leffers

Vice President for Enrollment, Retention & Student Affairs

Dr. Leffers came to the University of the Arts in 2004, after having held positions at colleges in Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

As the University's chief student affairs officer, his areas of responsibility include oversight of the eight student affairs departments, the University's student retention efforts and the University's Commencement exercises.

He holds a doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia and both a bachelor's and master's degree from James Madison University.

Dr. Leffers is a specialist in the law of higher education and in early adulthood developmental psychology. He and his partner Michael live in Center City Philadelphia only a few blocks from campus and have great enthusiasm for all things artistic, particularly film, dance, music and photography. Neither has any artistic talent to speak of, so they rely happily on the talents of UArts students to fill the void.
