De Angela Duff is an associate professor in the Design, Art & Technology and Web Development & Interaction Design programs within the College of Art, Media & Design at the University of the Arts. Prior to this, she was an art director for Nettmedia, a NYC Interactive Design Firm. Notable projects included art direction and lead design of BowieNet version 2.0, davidbowie.com, and Sarah McLachlan's "Mirrorball" DVD interface design.
De Angela has spoken at AIGA's Social Studies & Massaging Media 2 Conferences and HOW's Annual Design Conference. She has judged HOW's interactive design competition, and has been featured in "HOW," "Print," "Now Loading" and www.animation: Animation Design for the World Wide Web.
She has served on Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter's committee to re-brand Philadelphia and participated in the Free Library of Philadelphia's Website Brainstorming Charette. She hosts an online, radio show, No Turn Unstoned, on Mixlr.com. She is a member of AIGA, IxDA and CAA.
A native of Eutaw, Ala., De Angela holds an MFA from MICA, a BFA from Georgia State University, and a BS from Georgia Tech. Her design and development research, design.polishedsolid.com, currently focus on the creation and facilitation of digital interfaces in increasing communication and knowledge. Her current body of photography work at photo.polishedsolid.com captures people in passage, ordinary people negotiating public and familial spaces, juxtaposed and contextualized within a rural, southern environment.
Presently, she lives, works, and plays in and around the Philadelphia and New York areas.
