Rick Hall teaches composition and music technology. He has been a professional composer, music producer and performer for more than 30 years. He operates his own recording studio, where he has produced over 100 CDs, and his activities have included scoring extensively for television, film and advertising; composing art music; and playing keyboards in jazz and rock bands.
Nothing is more important than providing students with the critical thinking skills they need to succeed in today's competitive society. How a student thinks about his or her work is crucial to the development of a distinctive voice, whether as a composer or a performer. My goal as an instructor is to enable the student to discover and develop their own unique creative vision, and to provide them with the skills necessary to realize that vision in the context of a practical career.
