Jan Almquist is an Adjunct Professor in the Graphic Design department and has been teaching at the University of the Arts since 1985. He teaches upper-level courses that deal with the manipulation and integration of image and type.
Since 1984, Jan has been a principal of Allemann Almquist & Jones, a design and strategic communication consultancy involved in the planning, design and production of visual communications for print, electronic media and the environment.
Jan is recognized by leading professional organizations and publications worldwide for his contributions to design and photography, including: Who’s Who in Graphic Design 1 and 2; Graphic Design America Two; Novum -The World of Graphic Design; Financial World; Graphis; Graphis Posters; I.D. Magazine; Print Magazine; Print Casebooks; Print Computer Art & Design Annual; AIGA Graphic Design USA; AR100; New York Art Director’s and Type Director’s Club Annuals.
He has participated in numerous solo and group shows, and his work is in corporate and private art collections. His posters are in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; the Graphic Design Collection of the National Design Archive at Rochester Institute of Technology, New York; and the Museum of Applied Arts in Brno, Czech Republic.
