Assistant Professor Rande Fleishman Blank, director of the MAT in Visual Arts program, has been dedicated to training pre-service teachers and provides professional development for the students in Art + Design Education at the University of the Arts. As director of the MAT program, Professor Blank was responsible for the restructuring of the BFA/MAT 5 Year program, service learning programs and Special Education Saturday classes. She provides K-12 teachers and students with strategies to teach students with special needs, supervises and evaluates student teachers, is the PDE certification officer of educational programs in the department, and the NAEA student chapter liaison. She is active in state and national art education and design education associations and presents regularly at the National Art Education Association, Pennsylvania Art Education Association and Art Education New Jersey conferences.
Rande was an adjunct professor for Tyler School of Art at Temple University supervising student teachers and at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia supervising and teaching in the Master of Arts Education program. She has numerous years of experience teaching art and special education in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for private and public schools. Prior to her career in education, she was a graphic designer and most recently, a mosaic artist. Her artwork has been exhibited in faculty shows at the University of the Arts and MCAD.
