Allison Heishman is associate artistic director at Azuka Theater and a freelance director and educator based in Philadelphia. With Azuka, she worked on The Arsonists (NNPN Rolling world premiere), Local Girls (world premiere), The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence, Skin & Bone (world premiere), Failure: A Love Story, Hazard County, the terrible girls (world premiere), and Azuka One Acts. Heishman’s other credits include Tartuffe (Commonwealth Classic); Macbeth (Revolution Shakespeare); Rabbit Hole; Eurydice (Ruhl, Arcadia University); No Reservations (PNAA Productions, world premiere); Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll (Plays & Players); Pinkalicious, the musical (Walnut Street Theatre Kids’ Series); A Respectable Widow Takes to Vulgarity; and Spacewang (Tiny Dynamite, A Play A Pie A Pint, Barnes Foundation). Heishman was assistant director under Blanka Zizka for the Wilma Theater’s productions of Angels in America, Parts One and Two. She has written and directed for theater programs at the National Constitution Center, where she is the director of Living News, a fast-paced show geared toward middle and high school students that discusses current events and the Constitution. Heishman is an adjunct professor of directing at University of the Arts. She earned her BA in Drama from Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland.
